Campaign
A finite push with a beginning and an end. It borrows attention; the brand is what you do with that attention afterward.
A campaign is scaffolding: erected, worked from, taken down. Its finitude is the point, a concentrated argument made while attention is rented. The error is mistaking the scaffolding for the building, and grieving each campaign's end as if the brand ended with it.
The question we ask before any push: what will this leave in the permanent account? A campaign that wins a season but muddies the position is a loss on a delay. The best ones spend their borrowed attention installing something durable, a line, an association, a proof, that remains after the media stops.
