Dailies are cinema's feedback loop at its shortest: what was shot today, watched tonight, judged while reshooting is still cheap. Performance, focus, continuity and coverage all reveal themselves on a screen in ways the monitor on set flattered or hid.

The ritual's lesson generalises far beyond film: review the day's output while correction costs little, and do it against the real thing, not the memory of it. Modern pipelines stream dailies to phones within hours, but the discipline is unchanged since the screening room, look early, look honestly, and let tomorrow benefit.
