Draft

Work in its honest unfinished state, labelled as such: shared for judgement, not for release. The stage where changing course is still cheap.

Drafts exist to be wrong efficiently: the structure shown before the polish, the cut screened before the grade, so the expensive opinions arrive while acting on them is easy. Hiding work until perfection is a vanity that converts cheap corrections into dear ones.

The label is the discipline: a draft must announce itself, watermark, version number, plain words, because unlabelled drafts leak into the world as accidental releases. And drafts deserve matching feedback: structural questions at the draft stage, spelling at the end. Reviewing a rough cut for polish wastes the one thing drafts are for.
