Initials drawn into a single mark. The brand reduced to a signature, for the places a full name will not fit.

A monogram compresses a name into its initials and the initials into one drawn form. It is the identity's shorthand for the places the full name cannot go: the favicon, the watch face, the wax seal, the corner of a frame.

The craft is in the joining. Letters pushed together are a collision; a monogram finds the shared stroke, the nested counter, the single form two letters can inhabit. It must also stay honest at a glance, decorative enough to own, legible enough to decode.
