Resonance

When the work meets something the audience already felt but had not named. It is the opposite of persuasion; it is recognition.

Resonance happens when the work names something the audience carried unnamed. The response is not, how clever, but, that is exactly it. Persuasion pushes a thought in from outside; resonance strikes one already there, which is why it needs no repetition to hold.

It cannot be engineered directly, but the odds are improvable: begin from a true observation rather than a claim, and keep the observation specific. The general statement flatters everyone and lands on no one. The precise one seems narrower and travels further.
