Sequence

An ordered run of shots or scenes assembled as one unit. The paragraph of film: several sentences making a single point.

A sequence is scenes compounded toward one effect: the heist, the courtship, the collapse, several sentences building a single point. It has its own arc inside the film's arc, rising and resolving on its own terms while advancing the larger argument.

Thinking in sequences is how long work stays navigable: the film is planned as a handful of movements, not a hundred scenes.
