I started Parlador so a story would not change hands halfway through.

Story, design and picture are one set of decisions for me. A sentence is chosen for the same reason a frame is, and both come out of the same listening.

Most of my work begins with waiting: for the sentence a client keeps repeating without noticing, for the light a place already has. The story is usually already there, and our job is not to invent it.
