Authenticity
The audit that never stops: whether the brand's claims and its behaviour are the same thing. Not a tone of voice; a track record.
Authenticity cannot be styled on, which is what makes the word so abused: the casual tone, the founder's handwriting, the unpolished photo are all reproducible surfaces. What audiences actually measure is coherence over time, does the company do what the voice implies, especially when doing it costs something.
The practical discipline is subtraction: strip every claim the work cannot demonstrate. A studio that says art-led must visibly refuse work on aesthetic grounds now and then; a brand that says craft must show the making. Claims are loans against future behaviour, authenticity is simply the loans being repaid.
