Black

The strongest colour on any surface, and never only one: every black is a decision about depth, warmth and what true dark means here.

Pure black exists on screens as a number and almost nowhere else: print blacks are built from several inks, screen blacks sit in glowing glass, and the richest darks in film are full of information. A design's black is its floor, and the floor's character carries the room.

This site's ink is the case in point: not #000 but a blue-black with breath in it, so shadows hold detail and the gold has something to warm against. Elevated blacks layer above it by small steps. One absolute black flattens everything it touches; a family of near-blacks builds space.
