Endorsement
A trusted voice lending its credibility to the brand. Rented trust: powerful, and gone the moment it seems bought.
An endorsement transfers trust from a person to a product, at the exchange rate of that person's credibility. The mechanism is precise: we outsource judgement to those we believe, so their approval shortcuts our diligence. Rented is the operative word; the trust never changes owners.
The moment the audience senses the transaction outweighs the belief, the polarity reverses and the endorsement reads as a paid disguise. The strongest versions are barely arranged at all: the practitioner already using the tool, the director already quoting the studio. Closer to testimony than advertising, which is why they are worth more.
