Sponsorship
Buying association with something people already love. It borrows warmth, and only works when the fit is believable.
Sponsorship is association by purchase: place the name beside something loved and let adjacency do the arguing. The warmth is real but it is borrowed, and the audience knows the arrangement, which is why fit is the entire game. Believable fit reads as support; poor fit reads as interruption.
The evaluation is a single question: would this audience find our presence here natural? Shared values make the logo feel like a patron; mere reach makes it feel like a toll. And sponsorship compounds only with tenure, the brand that stays a decade becomes part of the thing; the one that samples a season is scenery.
