Tracking shot

A shot that travels alongside its subject as it moves. Attention made physical: we go where it goes.

The tracking shot pledges the camera to a subject in motion: they move, we move, the frame keeps its promise at walking pace or a car's speed. Attention made physical means commitment, the shot cannot glance elsewhere without breaking its word.

The pledge generates its own drama: travelling beside a character, the world becomes what passes them, and duration builds a loyalty cutting cannot. Long tracks are logistics held together as grace, track laid, focus pulled, world choreographed to arrive on cue. The audience feels only the escort, which is the point.
